Another year has flown by – and what a challenging one it has been!  Certainly it has been the most difficult growing year we have had;

;  starting with a cold spring which held back the purple sprouting, followed by a cold April and May which delayed both germination and growth.  Then came the hottest summer we can remember – and was it hot in the tunnels – we had to rise with the sun to avoid the heat!

We are so surprised that, with the extremes of weather which we have had this year, virtually everything (except for the peas) has cropped better than we could ever have hoped.

We are now already looking to next year with the seed order nearly complete and our cropping plans in place.  For those who have enquired about soft fruit, we have taken the plunge and invested in both strawberry plants and raspberry canes all of which are already planted.  We hope to have sufficient for next year’s boxes – everything permitting.

The first of next year’s cabbages and calabrese have already germinated in the tunnel and will be ready for planting out in March to ensure an early start.   If you do have a favourite vegetable which we have not grown this year please let us know and we will do our best to source seed for next year.

We wish you a very Happy Christmas and New Year and thank you for your custom during 2006.
